Numerical Modeling of Environmental Flows
CE 200B
Instructor: Prof. Tina Katopodes Chow
Lectures: Tu-Th 9:30-11am, 2 Evans Hall
Office hours: TBA, 621 Davis Hall
Course Description: Introduction to basic concepts of numerical modeling for environmental flows, with various applications to atmospheric and surface/subsurface water flows. Computer modeling assignments using Matlab, discussion of physical processes and associated numerical analysis. Topics will include finite difference techniques, numerical stability, iterative solutions, advection/diffusion and wave equations, contaminant transport, effects of stratification, and turbulence modeling, among others.
